Easy Oatmeal Recipe

I’ve been on a bit of a breakfast kick these last few weeks. If you remember the last recipe I posted about How To Make An Omelet, then you’ll know what I mean. I decided to make a super simply recipe today because I wanted to provide something that anyone can make from home. It’s that simple!

Today’s recipe calls for old fashioned oats like the ones you can find in the link, Why you ask? It’s a preference I guess. I prefer the taste and consistency of old fashioned oats better than instant oats. Quality is important to me when it comes to all of my recipes and oatmeal is no exception.

So what’s really the difference you ask? Old fashioned oats, also referred to as rolled oats are flattened and flakey in consistency. They take less time to cook than steel cut oats because they are cut more thinly. Instant Oats are cut even more finely than old fashioned ones. They are a lot softer in texture and take a lot less time to cook.

Instructions

1.) Bring a small sauce pan of water to a boil. The amount of water in your cooking pot is dependant on the serving of oats. For this recipe, we will need 1 cup of water for 1/2 a cup of oats.

2.) Once the water has come to a boil, reduce the heat to low and pour the 1/2 cup of oats in to the pan. 

3.) Cook the oats on low for 5 minutes or until the oatmeal has thickened and absorbed all of the water in the pan.

4.) Add just a dash of salt to taste. Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl and add the milk. You may add fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, bananas or just about anything as toppings. Top off your oatmeal and enjoy!
